About Birthday Freebies
Birthday Freebies (itsmybirthday.org) is an independent directory of 150+ birthday rewards from restaurants, cafes, and retailers across Canada and the United States.
Who runs this site
The site is built and maintained by a small independent team based in Toronto. We started tracking birthday offers for ourselves in 2024; the list got long enough that we turned it into a public site so friends and family could plan their own birthday routes without hunting through a dozen loyalty apps.
We are not owned by, affiliated with, or paid by any of the retailers listed. We do not accept placement fees. The site is supported by display advertising and, in some cases, non-exclusive affiliate links that never influence which retailers are included or how they're ranked.
How we verify offers
Every retailer on the list has been checked against the brand's own loyalty program terms, an active member account, or a documented user report. When a program changes its rules (a new minimum spend, a removed birthday field, a discontinued app), we update or remove the entry within a few days of noticing.
Wherever possible, the "Sign Up" link on a card points to the brand's actual loyalty enrollment page, not a third-party redirect. When a brand doesn't publish a direct URL, the link falls back to a scoped Google search for that retailer's birthday freebie.
How often the list is updated
We do a full re-verification pass every quarter and spot-check high-value offers monthly. Notable changes get written up on the blog, for example the spring 2026 wave of retailers adding minimum-spend requirements to previously no-strings gifts.
Estimated values are our own conservative estimates based on menu or retail pricing at the time of the last check. They're a rough guide for planning a birthday route, not a promise from the retailer.

If an offer on the list is wrong, expired, or missing terms we should have flagged, please email contact@itsmybirthday.org with the retailer name and what you found. Corrections from readers are how we catch program changes the fastest.
